I like the happy spirit of the block and especially your cardinal in the tree. Looks like it's done in silk ribbon?

Thank you! My family insisted they could not tell the cardinal was a bird, so I am someone can. :) I made him with 2 strands of DMC cotton floss. The body is a lazy daisy stitch (or detached chain stitch) with a straight stitch inside to fill it with color. The head is a French knot and the tail consists of two straight stitches. I mimicked him from a bird Barbara W. made on a block for Kathy S. in a CQI Winter/Christmas Round Robin that I just adored.
